An Alaskan transporter is a licensed, professional operator who provides transportation for compensation—typically via aircraft, boat, or specialized vehicle—to move hunters, their gear, and harvested game to and from remote, off-road locations. Unlike guides, they do not assist in hunting, scouting, or skinning, but facilitate logistics in compliance with state regulations.

Key aspects of an Alaskan transporter include:

  • Role Distinction: They are strictly transporters, not hunting guides; they cannot legally guide or provide hunting services.
  • Logistical Support: They are commonly used by DIY (Do-It-Yourself) hunters to access remote areas for game like moose, caribou, and bear.
