What To Expect

Weather and Gear: Since you will be participating in the Gulf of Alaska Rain Festival, (Jan. 1st- Dec.31st) proper foul weather gear is recommended! Gore-Tex or similar raingear is essential. Knee high rubber boots are also needed. Prepare for daytime temperatures ranging from the mid 50’s to low 70’s. Temperature out at sea always is a bit cooler so layering is desired. Although the Emerald Isle does get its fair share of rain, polarized sunglasses are recommended as well, for those sunny days on the water. Freshwater Salmon and Trout fisherman may also want to pack there chest-waders for days spent ashore in the stream.

Luggage: If possible Alaska Premier Sportfishing recommends bringing only one large piece of luggage along with your carry-on items. Essential medications etc., should be carried as well in case of luggage problems with the airlines. Upon completion of your trip your second piece of luggage can be used to transport some of your catch back home.
